Check Out A New Look At The Batgirl Costume From ‘Birds of Prey’

Batgirl Birds of Prey DC Oracle Black Canary Huntress

A new image reveals a more detailed look at the Batgirl costume from the 2002 Birds of Prey series.

Birds of Prey was a one-and-done series on the old WB network. It lasted one season, but it gave us a badass look into the powerful female world of DC Comics. The series followed Huntress, Batgirl/Oracle and the daughter of Black Canary in a version of Gotham city that was abandoned by Batman. The series featured a Killing Joke-esque sequence where Batgirl is shot by The Joker, turning her into a paraplegic and ultimately into Oracle.

The actress who played Batgirl recently posted a picture of herself in the Batgirl costume while her brother visited the set. In the photo, you get a great look at the Batgirl costume and all the details that went into it. You can check out the image below.

Birds of Prey is having a resurgence on the big screen as a film will go into production this month with a script from Christina Hodson and Cathy Yan directing. Birds of Prey will star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winestead as Huntress, Jurnee Smolett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renée Montoya and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will feature the female superhero team coming together to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Gotham crime lord Black Mask.

Warner Bros. and DC Films have many projects currently being developed including The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Supergirl, New Gods and Nightwing.

The DCEU continues with Shazam! on April 5, 2019, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.

The synopsis for the series can be found below:

In the future, long after the Batman has driven himself into exile, his legacy lives on in the form of the Birds of Prey–Black Canary, Oracle, and the Huntress. Now Gotham’s Undercover Superhero Batman has disappeared leaving behind a daughter from his long-time love Catwoman.
