‘Batgirl’ Film Crew Held ‘Funeral Screenings’ On Warner Bros. Lot

RIP.

Leslie Grace Batgirl

The Batgirl film crew reportedly held “funeral screenings” before the footage was locked away.

The aftermath of Batgirl‘s cancelation continues to be felt across the entertainment industry. The decision was ultimately made by Warner Bros. Discovery so they could take advantage of a tax write-off. Reports have also come out that the move was done due to the film’s quality. Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah recently shared they tried to get the footage of the film after it was canceled, but the server had been wiped.

Secret Batgirl Screenings

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Batgirl crew members and others involved with the film held what has been described as “funeral screenings” after learning the DC film would not see a theatrical or streaming release. The report goes on to suggest that Warner Bros. might physically destroy the Batgirl footage to prove to the IRS that the film will never be released to receive the tax write-off. However, other sources from THR implied that wouldn’t be the case, and it would instead be locked away with scrapped projects like the unaired Game of Thrones pilot.
