Anne Hathaway has an interesting take on Batman star Ben Affleck’s Gone Girl, calling the dark thriller a romantic comedy.

Anne Hathway has a surprising opinion on Ben Affleck’s Gone Girl that she revealed on The Late Late Show With James Corden. The actress briefly discussed Gone Girl which stars Batman himself Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as an unhappily married couple. When his wife goes missing, Ben Affleck’s character quickly becomes the key suspect in the investigation. Gone Girl‘s directed by David Fincher, who is renown for creating dark thrillers.

But Anne Hathaway revealed that she actually thinks the Batman star’s film is a romantic comedy. James Corden asked Anne Hathaway about her favorite romantic comedies, which she answered with Notting Hill and Gone Girl. Now although there is romance and comedy in Ben Affleck’s Gone Girl, it shows the distorted breakdown of an abusive marriage – hardly romantic comedy material. Full plot details for Matt Reeves’ The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Westworld star Jeffrey Wright was recently reported to be in talks for the role of Commissioner James Gordon.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
