According to Box Office Mojo ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ has officially been rated PG-13 by the MPAA. The superhero blockbuster earns this rating due to “intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality”.
This rating should excite eager fans, as this confirms there is in fact a cut of ‘Batman v Superman’ the studio is pleased with. This could lend some credibility to rumors of excited positive responses to the film from studio executives. Somewhere locked deep inside Warner Bros’ vaults exists a finished copy of ‘Dawn of Justice’.
Even though this is really all the news to be reported on, this could tell a lot about the upcoming superhero spectacular. The rating definitely makes sense, as its predecessor ‘Man of Steel’ was also rated PG-13. In fact, most superhero films share this rating, such as ‘Avengers‘ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. This rating works very well for superhero films, and is definitely the right route to go for ‘Batman v Superman’. Even with the rated R ‘Deadpool’ on the horizon, and ‘Suicide Squad’ which many believe will earn that same R rating, ‘Dawn of Justice’ is a different film from these two future releases, and is one which will feel right at home at PG-13.
So, even though this rating was to be expected, it is still huge and very exciting news. And not only are we drawing closer to the release date everyday, our very own editor-in-chief Umberto Gonzalez has reason to believe that we’ll be getting some new teasers attached to ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Gotham’, leading to a full length trailer on Thanksgiving. Fans who have waited patiently since SDCC 2013 are in the home stretch.
