Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie has found its new writer in Lee Sung Jin, creator and showrunner of Netflix’s Beef. Variety broke the news, revealing that Lee is making his feature film writing debut with Thunderbolts. He has previously worked on shows like Tuca & Bertie, Dave and Silicon Valley.
In an interview with Variety, Lee Sung Jin revealed he is set to rewrite the script for Thunderbolts and expressed his excitement about working on the project. “It’s the whole squad again,” he said. “Jake asked me if I would come on board. I probably should have taken a break, but there’s a lot of themes and exciting things about the movie that I couldn’t help but sign on.”
Thunderbolts is based on a Marvel comic book team that made its debut in the pages of The Incredible Hulk #449 in 1997. The comics follow a team of reformed supervillains who are recruited by the government to carry out dangerous missions. The team has gone through several iterations over the years, with various Marvel characters taking on the roles of Thunderbolts members.
