Ben Affleck and Christian Bale are finally returning to the DC Universe! A new multiverse movie is expected to feature two different versions of Batman, played by Affleck and Bale.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have been very clear in trying to separate themselves from old films with the new DC Universe. However, it seems not even they’re immune to the pull of nostalgia. A new report reveals that both Ben Affleck and Christian Bale will be returning for a new Batman animated movie focused on the multiverse.
Neither Christian Bale or Ben Affleck have commented on their potential return to the DC Universe. However, both fans and George Clooney’s agents have celebrated their return as a potential sign that James Gunn and Peter Safran want to give every previous Batman actor one final send-off before casting the role for the upcoming Brave and the Bold film.
The Plot Of The DC Universe’s Batman Multiverse
The film is reportedly set to center around Timothée Chalamet as Terry McGinnis, aka Batman Beyond, after he’s sucked through a wormhole into the Knightmare world from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. There, he’ll team up with Ben Affleck and Christian Bale to stop Joaquin Phoenix’s “Emperor Joker” who has become imbued with the power of fifth-dimensional imps.
Some other actors returning for the multiverse film include Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze, Tom Hardy as Bane, and Paul Dano as Riddler. Sean Gunn will also be playing a variant of Batman in the film, though reports suggest that he may continue on to play the main version of the Caped Crusader in the DC Universe.
