Robert Pattinson Ben Affleck The Batman FlashpointBen Affleck may have left the role of the Cape Crusader but has expressed his support for Robert Pattinson in the upcoming DC Comics film, The Batman.

Early last year, Ben Affleck officially announced that he was leaving The Batman after months of rumors and speculation. The true reason behind Ben Affleck’s departure remained unknown until recently where he revealed it was out of fear of a relapse and the stress brought on from the DC projects. Ben Affleck, however, seems to have nothing but enthusiasm for Robert Pattinson’s role as the Caped Crusader.

Late last year, fans everywhere were shocked and intrigued to learn that Robert Pattinson had been cast in the lead role in The Batman. While conducting an interview with Jake Hamilton, Ben Affleck talked about Robert Pattinson’s role in The Batman and seemed to be excited to see what the young actor could do in the role:

“I think Robert’s a great actor, he’s going to do great.”

Ben Affleck further explained why it was he left The Batman, stating that he simply lost his passion for the role and comic book movies in general. Ben Affleck played the role of Batman in three of the DCEU’s films and seemed to have had enough after Justice League:

“We had a script. I liked the script, I wrote it with Geoff Johns, who I have a lot of respect for. It just so happened that I had done a couple of those movies, and I kind of lost my passion for it. You know what I mean? I kind of lost my passion for telling those stories, I got interested in telling stories more like this, and it just seemed like very clear to me that if it’s not the most important thing in the world to you, you’re not going to make a very good movie. The movie deserves to be made by someone whose dying to do it and can’t wait, and that wasn’t me at the time, so I moved on.”
