With the long-awaited introduction of Marvel‘s Sorcerer Supreme last year with Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, fans have already begun awaiting the character’s return with eager anticipation. In addition to reprising his role as Doctor Strange later this year in Thor: Ragnarok, Cumberbatch is also set to join The Avengers as Earth’s magical defender next year in Avengers: Infinity War.

Although Avengers: Infinity War has been filming since February, Benedict Cumberbatch had yet to set foot on the set of the production until today when it was revealed via Cumberbatch’s movement coach, Jay Funk, on Twitter that he had arrived in Atlanta to begin working on the project. You can check out the tweet below.

It is incredibly exciting for Doctor Strange fans to hear Benedict Cumberbatch is soon to begin filming his part for Infinity War. It was also recently confirmed that Chadwick Boseman would appear as fellow newcomer Black Panther in the culmination of the MCU, along with the announcement that Danai Gurira would join the film as Okoye as well.

While Doctor Strange was generally well-received by both the fans and critics, one complaint that frequently arose concerned Doctor Strange’s powers in the film, or rather lack thereof. Considering the fact that Doctor Strange was an origin film, it was understandable the inexperienced sorcerer was given limited reign in showcasing his abilities. For that reason, many fans are hoping to see his powers develop and become even more powerful in next years’ Infinity War, which is a strong possibility considering the unparalleled talent the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy will be facing in Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
