If the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can team up, why can’t the villains?
Ever since the Collector (Benicio Del Toro) made his movie debut at the end of Thor: The Dark World, many non-comic fans have been wondering about the Elders of the Universe, the group that encompasses the Collector, the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), and the late Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell). So far, none of the Elders introduced in the MCU have interacted on screen, especially since the Collector was seemingly killed by Thanos, but in an interview with ScreenRant, Del Toro not only confirmed the Collector was still alive, but was also ready to join forces with the Grandmaster. In real life, however, del Toro has yet to talk to either Goldblum or Marvel themselves about such a team up between the two cruel, cosmic, insidious immortals.
“No, I haven’t talked to him, but it would be an honor for me to work with him. I’ve been a fan and you know, it’d be great. It’d be great.”
Considering Disney is currently in talks with Fox to buy them, possibly gaining the film rights to the Silver Surfer, among other properties, it would be cool to see the Grandmaster and the Collector team up against the alien superhero, or be the focus of another Avengers movie. But given Marvel’s current slate is full, we can only hope that happens in the near future.
