Newly released pieces of concept art have revealed an updated classic costume for Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey.
Margot Robbie first appeared as Harley Quinn in the 2016 film, Suicide Squad. While the film was critically panned it managed to earn nearly $750M worldwide, with everyone seeming to be more or less on board with the actress as the character. Soon after, the project that would eventually become Birds of Prey began to form which saw the character take charge of her own team.
The film was ultimately a critical success, with a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Some, however, were more critical of the character’s look in both Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad and wanted to see Margot Robbie wear a more traditional outfit. It seemed that one of the film’s concept artists at least partially agreed with this.
Earlier today, Bird of Prey concept artist Greg Hopwood shared a set of images that showed Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn wearing her outfit that appeared in the film but in the traditional colors she is associated with. You can see the full images below:

Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey:
“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Birds of Prey is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Margot Robbie’s future as Harley Quinn and Birds of Prey and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content.
