Our first look at Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary in DC’s Birds of Prey (And the Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is here.

In 2020, Birds of Prey (And the Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is hitting theaters and it’s going to introduce quite a few new characters to the DC Extended Universe. One of these characters is Dinah Lance, a.k.a. Black Canary, played in the film by Jurnee Smollett-Bell. The character has previously been brought to life in live-action by actress Katie Cassidy on The CW’s Arrow.

The film is set to hit theaters in February 2020 and, besides Black Canary, some of the other iconic DC Comics characters that will be appearing in the film are Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

DC’s Birds of Prey film will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
