New ‘Birds of Prey’ Character Posters Reveal Black Canary, Huntress & Black Mask

Black Canary, Huntress, and Black Mask look absolutely fantastic in these brand new character posters from Birds of Prey.

Birds of Prey just had a panel at CCXP, where they showed off a brand new trailer, which gave fans brand new footage of Black Canary, Huntress, and Black Mask! In addition to showing off more of Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask in trailer, they also allowed fans to see the film’s opening scene, which showcases Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn breaking her ties from Joker. Seeing as the film is set to hit cinemas in just a few months, it makes sense to ramp up the promotion for the next film in the DCEU, as well as familiarize general audiences with characters like Black Canary, Huntress, and Black Mask.

After the panel began, the Birds of Prey Twitter account began to tweet out a bevy of character posters for the film. There seems to be a character poster for every pivotal character in Birds of Prey, including villains Black Mask and Victor Zsaz. Other character posters include those featuring Black Canary and Huntress. For any art history fans out there, you’ll notice that the Birds of Prey posters are directly influenced by Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.

CCXP has only just begun and the Birds of Prey is one of many panels that’ll be of interest for fans. DC fans can expect more news coming from Wonder Woman 1984, with a potential trailer also releasing online.

Here is the official synopsis for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey:

“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Birds of Prey will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
