A brand new look at the Captain Boomerang Easter egg from Birds of Prey has been revealed.

With Birds of Prey on digital rental services, eagle-eyed fans have been scouring the solo Harley Quinn adventure to find the most interesting “blink and you’ll miss it” moments. One of these moments from Birds of Prey is an Easter egg that highlights the relationship between Harley Queen and Captain Boomerang.

In the film, Harley Quinn sees a “WANTED” poster for Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang who proves to be a familiar face. She stops at the sight of the poster and recounts how she knows the villain. You can check out the Easter egg from Birds of Prey below.

Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang shared considerable screentime together in Suicide Squad, which introduced Margot Robbie’s DC Extended Universe character to the world. In Suicide Squad, which premiered in 2016, Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn were on a mission along with others to bring Enchantress to justice.

It appears that since the events of Suicide Squad, Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang escaped from Belle Reve, where he and the rest of the members of the team were being held. At the end of the 2016 film, Joker rescued Harley Quinn from the institution, which then led to her gaining a solo adventure in the form of Birds of Prey. Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn will return in next year’s The Suicide Squad, which will hopefully clarify where Jai Courtney’s character has been.

Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey:

“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Birds of Prey is now available for purchase on digital rental streaming platforms.
