DC’s ‘Birds of Prey’ Gets A Working Title

Harley Quinn Suicide Squad DC Birds of Prey

As DC’s Birds of Prey nears its early-2019 filming start date, its working title has been revealed and it’s a pretty interesting deep cut reference that raises some questions about the film’s story.

Though there are several Gotham-centric DC films in development, such as Matt Reeves’ The Batman and the Batgirl solo film, DC’s release schedule beyond Wonder Woman 1984 remains a mystery. One project that has been in development for quite some time has been the Harley Quinn-led Birds of Prey film. Though Suicide Squad was a very divisive film among fans, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was one of the film’s breakout characters, so her getting another big screen outing was inevitable and certainly not unwanted by fans.

Thanks to a recent Production Weekly posting, DC’s Birds of Prey‘s filming start date has been revealed to be January 14th in Los Angeles. The film’s working title has also been revealed and although they don’t always give fans a major hint into the story, this one is pretty specific.

The working title for Birds of Prey as it films will be Fox Force Five. It sounds like a Marvel team from the ’80s but it’s actually the title of a TV show starring Uma Thurman. Well, it would have starred Uma Thurman if it ever made it past the pilot stage. The only remnants of Fox Force Five is an iconic reference in Pulp Fiction, in a scene featuring Thurman herself. The failed series featured a team of five female secret agents, very similar to the rumored structure of the Birds of Prey movie.

Birds of Prey is rumored to feature five female leads, making it the first all-female team-up for a major comic book franchise. Even the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to team up its many iconic female characters. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Birds of Prey as more information becomes available.
