Warner Bros. Pictures has released an official synopsis for Margot Robbie’s upcoming DC Extended Universe film, Birds of Prey.

The new film, which features the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn after her debut in Suicide Squad is the newest entry in the DCEU, following the release of Aquaman and Shazam! respectively. Birds of Prey is also the DCEU’s newest female-driven film after Wonder Woman.

You can read the new official synopsis for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey down below:

“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”

It’s interesting to see that Warner Bros. is promoting Ewan McGregor’s character primarily as Roman Sionis rather than emphasizing him as the Black Mask character seen in the comics. It’s also interesting to see that he is described here is “Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain” which is saying something given that city’s history of criminals.
