Dwayne Johnson’s superhero movie Black Adam will now be released on July 29, 2022, Johnson announced on Sunday.
The film was previously scheduled to open on December 22, 2021.
“The Hierarchy of Power in the DC Universe is about to Change,” Johnson said in an Instagram post.
Dwayne Johnson has been ready to play Black Adam for a very long time. The actor has been cast in the role for almost a decade and now it seems that we’re finally gonna get to see him suit up. Black Adam is finally moving forward with the film set to undergo cameras next month in Georgia.
Just last week, Pierce Brosnan joined the cast of Black Adam as DR. FATE (aka KENT NELSON), a founding member of the Justice Society who becomes a being of great power when donning the magical Helmet of Fate. This is Brosnan’s first role as a superhero in his storied career.
Along with the addition of Brosnan, the film also stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.
Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson alongside Emily Blunt in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, will direct.
Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon will serve as executive producer.
Johnson, Collet-Serra, Flynn, Garcia and Garcia recently collaborated on Disney’s Jungle Cruise which is set for release on July 30, 2021.
Black Adam is one of DC’s most popular anti-heroes and plot details are being kept tightly under wraps.
Black Adam is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s critical and commercial smash hit Shazam! Shazam Black Adam are arch rivals in the DC Universe.
