Marvel’s Black Panther has broken yet another record when it comes to ticket pre-sales, as the Ryan Coogler-directed film is now Fandango’s top-selling comic book movie to date.
According to Fandango, Black Panther is currently outpacing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opened to $166 million at the North American box office back in March 2016. The film is also the company’s #1 daily ticket-seller right now two weeks before its release.
Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis had the following to say in a statement:
“The buzz on ‘Black Panther’ is electric. Early screening audiences say it is one of Marvel’s best movies ever, and the positive word-of-mouth is helping drive the movie’s spectacular advance ticket sales.”
Audiences are eagerly awaiting the theatrical release and positive reactions after the film’s world premiere have only heightened the already-palpable excitement.
The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, Andy Serkis and John Kan. Here’s the synopsis:
“Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
10 Characters That Need To Be Avengers In Marvel’s Phase Four
Avengers: Infinity War arrives this year, and will be followed by a currently untitled fourth Avengers film that will close off Phase 3 and will mark a new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Phase 4 it is safe to say audiences will meet a new roster of the Avengers.
Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America have been the pillars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, as their individual films have guided lead audiences into each Avengers film. But with the next two Avengers film it is safe to say the curtain will set for those three. That means the Avengers as audiences know them will change dramatically. This means the team will need some new members, ones that will make a big impression to fill the shoes of their predecessors.
While the status of other founding members like the Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and more up in the air right now, part of the fun in the Avengers comics is the ever-changing roster. The latest roster for the Avengers needs to make a statement. This isn’t the same old Avengers, this is the beginning of a new chapter. Some characters should be upgraded, others will take center stage as the new tentpole franchises, and the Avengers will be new.
