If you were wondering what N’Jobu (Sterling K. Brown) wrote in his journal in this year’s Black Panther, then you’re in luck because a dedicated fan just transcribed and revealed the emotional message.
Black Panther was a colossal success when it was released earlier this year, and remained a prominent box office draw all the way up until the release of Avengers: Infinity War in May. What made Black Panther so impressive was how it brought real-world issues and beautifully merged them with this giant superhero action film. It was an incredible feat pulled by the director and co-writer Ryan Coogler and thanks to a new discovery by a fan of the film, it continues to pull those heartstrings even months after hitting home video.
Later in the film, when Killmonger (Micahel B. Jordan) goes through the process of becoming the next Black Panther, he is visited by his father, N’Jobu (Sterling K. Brown). Killmonger finds himself in his childhood home, the very apartment where King T’Chaka (Atandwa Kani) murdered Killmonger’s father. Killmonger then reads a journal entry that holds a very powerful message for the character and thanks to a new Reddit post, fans can finally see what N’Jobu had to say to his son. The post comes from user jhfrescas but he credits Youtube user aznmarty256 as the original transcriber. Check it out below.
One of the most praised aspects of Black Panther was Killmonger, the villain of the whole film. Though his goal was going to be achieved in villainous ways, his actual goal and motivations are so understandable that some audiences couldn’t figure out if they were rooting for Killmonger or T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) to come out on top at the end. Now that this message has been transcribed, it gives both Killmonger and N’Jobu even more emotional depth and resonance.
