‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Tops Fandango’s Most Anticipated Film Of 2022 List

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has become has topped Fandango’s most anticipated film of 2022 list.

When Black Panther was first released back in 2018, it quickly became one of the biggest films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Critics overwhelmingly loved the film and it became the first superhero movie to ever be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. After earning over $700M in the United States box office, it became the highest-grossing film domestically in the MCU before it was beaten out by Avengers: Endgame the following year.

A sequel to the film eventually titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was quickly put into development before tragedy struck. Unknown to everyone save for a few close friends and family members, star Chadwick Boseman had been battling colon cancer since 2016. He sadly died in mid-2020 much to the shock of everyone. It also left the question open as to how Disney and Marvel would continue the franchise.

Currently, it is unknown just what direction Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will take. Production has started and been delayed several times with it set to resume once again in January. Fans are eager to see what direction the franchsie takes with all the behind the scenes circomstances and has quickly become Fandango’s most anticpated film of 2022. In second and third place were Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) and The Batman.

Here is the synopsis for the first Black Panther film:

After the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, young T’Challa returns home to the isolated high-tech African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he’s drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, he must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
