Black Widow star Ray Winstone’s character has been revealed as someone who was mentioned in The Avengers.

While Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will be set in between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the film is expected to delve more into the history of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff as she reunites with characters from her past.

While fans have known that acclaimed actor Ray Winstone has been a part of the Black Widow cast for some time, the identity of his character has been a mystery up to this point. Now, the latest issue of Empire Magazine reveals Ray Winstone will portray Dreykov, the head of the Red Room.

The name of Ray Winstone’s character may sound familiar to some because he was mentioned during the interrogation scene between Natasha and the imprisoned Loki in The Avengers. The God of Mischief mentions Ray Winstone’s character when trying to break down Natasha by listing the many reasons why she has red in her ledger, saying, “Can you wipe out that much red? Dreykov’s daughter, São Paulo, the hospital fire… Barton told me everything.”

Here is the official synopsis for the Marvel Studios’ film:

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Eric Pearson based on a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, the film stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.

Black Widow will be released on a future date to be determined.
