During an interview with Good Morning America, Scarlett Johansson commented on the possibility of seeing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow.
Since Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow made her debut in Iron Man 2, many fans have been calling on Marvel Studios’ to produce a solo film featuring Natasha Romanoff. Next year, those wishes will be granted with a new film centered on Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow set before her sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame.
Of course, with the film expected to explore Black Widow’s past to some extent, fans are curious to see if Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will have a role in the project considering both characters have a long-lasting friendship. However, Scarlett Johansson played coy when asked about a possible Jeremy Renner appearance in Black Widow:
“That’s when you see the tranq gun come out. My lips are sealed. You got to wait and see.”

Full plot details on Black Widow are currently under wraps, though it has been revealed that the film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and will see Scarlett Johansson’s take on the villainous Taskmaster. The film will also mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of Yelena Belova, the second modern-era character to use the Black Widow title in the comics.
Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Production is currently underway.
Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1, 2020.
