‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Adds David Dastmalchian & Hiam Abbass

The cast of Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel continues to grow as Alcon Entertainment has announced that David Dastmalchian and Hiam Abbass have signed on for the highly anticipated movie. No details have been revealed about the characters they’re playing, so feel free to speculate away.

The two actors join a star-studded cast which also includes the likes of Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, Sylvia Hoeks and Barkhad Abdi. Details about the project, which began production earlier this month, are being kept tightly under wraps. The sequel is set several decades after the original movie and Ford is reprising his role as Rick Deckard.

Dastmalchian is best known for his brief, but memorable, roles in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man. He previously worked with Villeneuve on Prisoners. As for Abbass, she’s an Israeli actress who has appeared in Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings and Steven Spielberg’s Munich.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script by Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original sci-fi classic) and Michael Green, Blade Runner 2 is currently scheduled to open in theaters on October 6, 2017. Are you guys looking forward to the movie?
