Mackenzie Davis Joins Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Halt and Catch Fire star Mackenzie Davis has signed on to star alongside Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in the yet-to-be titled Blade Runner sequel, which will be directed by Sicario and Prisoners helmer Denis Villeneuve. The project will start filming this July.

The actress joins a cast which also includes Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri and Sylvia Hoeks. The story of the movie is surrounded by secrecy, so for now we don’t know who Davis will be playing. Rumor has it that Wright’s character hires Gosling’s character to investigate the disappearance of her daughter. Davis does kinda resemble Wright so there’s definitely a chance that she could be the one who will be playing the daughter in the follow-up.

Davis is most notably known for her role as programmer Cameron Howe on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. She also had a brief role in The Martian, which was helmed by Riddley Scott, the director of the original Blade Runner movie and producer of the sequel.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script by Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original sci-fi classic) and Michael Green, Blade Runner 2 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 6, 2017. Are you excited for the movie?
