Bob Iger, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, is excited to bring together the teams from Disney and Fox.
The Mouse House had a live call earlier today where a number of different topics were discussed, including the pending buyout of the iconic 21st Century Fox studio. This represents an unprecedented purchase of one of the major entertainment studios by another (or at least the vast most of its properties).
For those not in the know, Fox officially decided to go with Bob Iger and Disney after a fierece bidding war ensued between the happiest company in the world and Comcast. Initially, Bob Iger offered to purchase Fox for $52.4 billion. It was not long until Comcast (the entity that already owns Universal Studios) came in with their own $65 billion bid. A week later, Disney counteroffered with a staggering $71.3 billion before Comcast ultimately backed out. It is a significant number because it represents more than half of Disney’s total value.
Since then, the negotiation between Disney and Fox has been undergoing government crutiny to make sure there it does not brake any established anti-trust laws. During today’s call, Bob Iger let it be known that he is looking forward to bringing the teams from the two studios together once final regulatory approval is finished in the few remaining terrirtories. The T’s are expected to be crossed, as well as the I’s dotted, by the end of this summer.
Disney’s next big blockbuster, Captain Marvel, lands in theaters next month.

While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law.
The film is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
