Burger King Germany is allowing fans to receive a free Whopper if they allow themselves to read spoilers from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
In what is one of the most bizarre marketing campaigns ever produced, the Germany Burger King app is asking fans to read out loud (the’ve got voice-recognition technology) spoilers from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to receive a free Whopper. These spoilers which are seemingly from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker haven’t been confirmed, though they do seem quite likely.
Burger King isn’t just stopping at the app to spoil Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker for fans. In a brand new commercial in German, Burger King showcases a pop-up restaurant that is filled to the brim with spoilers from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It should be noted that throughout this campaign of theirs, Burger King doesn’t explicitly mention Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker by name but rather uses vague terms like “The epic end of a Space Opera Saga”, etc.
In the spoiler-centric commercial, fans have to order their meals by specifically saying out-loud spoilers from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. A Creative Executive for LucasFilm on Twitter responded to a fan by saying that this piece that is seemingly spoiling Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is not an official piece of marketing for the film but rather one just for Burger King.

They continued by stating that it’s merely a stunt that is riding on the promotional coattails of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
It's a stunt for the restaurant chain, not the film. It's not associated with the film. So it seems to have been effective. It has a lot of people talking about Burger King.

It should be noted that the spoilers discussed in the commercial and in the Burger King app have been on Reddit for quite a few months, and they have not been verified in any capacity. Only time will tell if these Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker spoilers are actually factual and if Burger King and Disney have planned this from the get-go. Regardless of what the outcome is regarding these Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker spoilers, this arguably one of the most strange and confusing marketing stunts ever put on by a major chain.
