Cameron Monaghan Excited To Bring Batman & Joker ACE Chemicals Scene To Life

Cameron Monaghan Joker Batman Gotham

Gotham star Cameron Monaghan is excited to bring a classic Batman and Joker scene to life during the final season of the series.

Comicbook recently sat down with Cameron Monaghan during a set visit to Gotham and the star discussed bringing that iconic Batman and Joker moment to life in the episode titled “ACE Chemicals”:

“Yeah. I mean it’s obviously a huge landmark within the mythos and it is relating to Jeremiah. I don’t want to say exactly what happens and how it goes down but it’s really, really fucking cool. I’m excited for it.”

For those of you that don’t know. In the comics, Batman takes down the leader of the Red Hood Gang inside of ACE Chemicals. The leader ultimately falls into a tank of acid and becomes the man who we know as The Joker. This ties Batman and Joker’s fates together for the rest of their lives.

Cameron Monaghan has played two roles in the Batman prequel series, one being Jerome and the other Jeremiah Valeska who is the series’ version of The Joker. The actor went on to discuss how Jeremiah still has it out for the future Batman in the final season:

“It was interesting in the last season, His plan succeeded. He destroyed Gotham. He marooned it. He created his maze and his image and all this stuff, which is rare for any villain to succeed. So I think that he’s enjoying that he’s king of the roost and he’s sort of working within the shadows with a lot of respect and he’s sort of the big boogeyman in the city right now. I think he’s enjoying that and it’s giving him a sense of ego and hubris. He has got a girlfriend now and he’s more successful than he’s ever been. I think that what’s driving him right now and what his plan and what he’s building is, he’s always working or building something, is Bruce. Bruce is his special project. It’s the one thing that’s bothering him and nagging him because it’s the one thing he didn’t succeed at. That’s what we see with him now is he’s happyish but he’s still unsatisfied because he needs to show Bruce how much he loves him, or his twisted version of love.”

What do you guys think of what Cameron Monaghan had to say? Are you excited for where the final season of Gotham takes Joker and Batman? Sound off in the comments section below!

The series stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Cameron Monaghan as Jeremiah Valeska and Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox.

With Gotham on the brink of total anarchy and cut off from the outside world, only Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne and a handful of heroes remain behind to retake the city. Inspired by the “No Man’s Land” arc from the comics, villains including Penguin, the Riddler, the Sirens and Jeremiah have taken claim on various regions of the city. Will order be restored, or will chaos reign in Gotham?

Gotham Season 5 will premiere on January 3, 2019, on Fox.
