Earlier this week, we found out that Academy Award winner Brie Larson is currently the frontrunner to play Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve already seen plenty of reactions on various social media platforms and now Captain America actor Chris Evans has weighed in on the matter.
The actor appeared alongside his Captain America: Civil War co-stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan at a Wizard World Philadelphia panel, where he was asked about his opinion on the news. Here’s what he had to say:
“I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she’s phenomenal, and I really hope that happens”
Well, if Captain America himself wants to see this happen, then so do we. It’s probably going to be a while until we get official confirmation (I’m guessing we’ll find out in July during Comic-Con), but seeing as both Larson and the studio want this to work out, there’s a big chance that she’ll be the one who will bring the character to life.
If Larson does indeed sign on to play the role, she’ll likely make her debut as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 which will begin production this fall for a May 4, 2018 release date, before starring in her own standalone movie, which is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2016. What do you guys think?
