It turns out that Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) isn’t the only character in Captain Marvel with a mysterious past.
Carol Danvers’ cat Chewie will be hitting the big screen alongside the Marvel hero in just a few months but he won’t be referred to by his iconic moniker. Instead, he will be named Goose after Anthony Edwards’ character in Top Gun. In the comics, Chewie is actually an alien cat and it seems this will be the case for Goose in the upcoming film as well. Lashana Lynch, who plays Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau, teased to SyFy during a May set-visit that Goose isn’t your typical house pet.
“It’s not fully a cat. It’s a mysterious cat. The cat does things that we didn’t expect for it to do, and it’s very surprising, and it could happen at random times.”
Captain Marvel will introduce fans to the iconic hero to prepare them for her next apperance. As teased during the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War, Carol Danvers will return to help Earth’s Mightiest Heroes save the day when Avengers: Endgame premieres in April.
