New ‘Captain Marvel’ Poster Features Carol Danvers’ Pet Chewie

Captain Marvel Brie Larson Poster Spider-Man

The recently unveiled Captain Marvel poster also includes Carol Danvers pet cat named Chewie.

Today, Marvel Studios released a new Captain Marvel poster to accompany the first official trailer for the highly-anticipated film. Of course, Brie Larson was front and center as Carol Danvers, who was shown wearing her iconic superhero costume while standing in a hangar. However, fans have noted that the poster also features a cat on the edge of the poster and many are assuming that this can only be Carol Danvers’ pet Chewie. Of course, in the comics, Chewie is actually a member of a dangerous alien species that resembles cats known as the Flerken.

At one point in the comics, Rocket Racoon attempted to kill Chewie because he knew she was a Flerken. Carol Danvers did not believe his claim until Chewie laid eggs several weeks later.

You can spot Chewie for yourself in the post below!

Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
