Today, Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for Captain Marvel and fans have taken to social media to share their reactions.
Captain Marvel will introduce Carol Danvers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Academy Award Brie Larson in the titular role. Transporting audiences back to the ’90s, the film will follow Carol when she returns to Earth as the villainous Skrulls prepare to invade the planet and the trailer offered fans a preview of the challenges the hero will face on her journey.
While there are certainly detractors who are unimpressed with the first Captain Marvel trailer, the response to trailer appears to be overwhelmingly positive based on reactions fans have shared on Twitter. Stand out moments seem to be when Carol Danvers punches an old woman, whom many are assuming to be a Skrull in disguise, and the final moment when she appears to be preparing to unleash her full power. Fans are also excited to see a female character lead a Marvel Studios film for the first time since the franchise began over ten years ago.

Loved this moment in the #CaptainMarvel trailer — it's very, "From now on, every girl in the world who might be a slayer…will be a slayer. Every girl who could have the power…will have the power…can stand up, will stand up. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?" pic.twitter.com/ujuwOhMX6y
