‘Captain Marvel’ Villain On What Makes The Movie Special

Captain Marvel actor Ben Mendelsohn recently opened up about what makes the upcoming superhero film so special.

The Skrulls have been rumored to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Avengers back in 2012. Now, the iconic Marvel foes are finally set to hit the big screen in next year’s Captain Marvel. The main Skrull villain is going to be played by Ben Mendelsohn, who has made quite the career out of playing villains.

Mendelsohn recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Captain Marvel, which will arrive in theaters next March. The actor first began by explaining that he has quite a bit of confidence in the MCU origin movie starring Brie Larson.

“I think we have something really special here, and that all comes from a finely crafted script, it’s absolutely beautiful.”

Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s first solo female superhero film. It will also feature the franchise’s first female director and first female composer. Mendelsohn hopes that the film will bring some change to the industry.

“Obviously this is a big moment for Marvel, and hopefully a sweeping change for inclusion and diversity in the industry.”

Mendelsohn then went on to discuss working with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck again, as well as some of the other members of the incredible cast. The actor last worked with the directors on the film Mississippi Grind.

“The thing I like most about the film, other than reuniting with Anna and Ryan, is that I get to work with just about everyone. That’s the beauty of being the antagonist, minus the pig’s head.”

Marvel fans will be getting a double dose of Captain Marvel in 2019. The hero, who was teased during the post-credits scene of Avengers Infinity War, will headline her own origin movie in March before teaming up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers 4.
