Never talk about the odds… no, wait, that’s a different franchise. But Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers is set to defy expectations set on her in the upcoming Captain Marvel film. A recently released TV spot helped emphasize that.
The Captain Marvel spot shows a Carol Danvers of different ages as she’s told throughout her upbringing that she’ll never make it. Nick Fury even tells her that she won’t last a week. But as Carol falls, the spot shows her rising back up and taking on each challenge with a newfound strength. No chamber to turn her into a super soldier, though, so Steve Rogers still has that on her. Anyway, throughout the spot, we hear the three familiar words used in the marketing: Higher, Further, and Faster.
By the time we reach the end, with Carol Danvers fully embracing the Captain Marvel powers, she’s done with people telling her what she can and can’t do. Kind of like TSA agents, am I right? Anyway, have a look at the recent Captain Marvel spot in the video below.
What do you think of Captain Marvel so far based on the spots? We’re a little under a month until its release, so what are your hopes and expectations going into the movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
“Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander. But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.”
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
The film will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019.
