‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Star Dakota Johnson Is Down To Play DC’s Catwoman

Actress Dakota Johnson revealed that if given the opportunity to play a superhero on the big screen, she’d like to play Catwoman.

At one point, especially in the nineties, superhero movies weren’t what they are now. Marvel, in particular, had a rough past but DC had plenty of stumbles on their own. After the superhero boom in 2008, thanks to the one-two punch of Iron Man and The Dark Knight, it seems like everyone wants in on those superhero franchises. Prepare the leather and whip jokes because now Dakota Johnson, star of the Fifty Shades trilogy, has thrown her name in the hat to play a very iconic DC character.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, in which Johnson was hooked up to a lie detector, the actress was questioned about which Marvel hero she’d like to play. She responds with the character Catwoman, though she quickly corrects herself that the character is part of the DC universe and not Marvel. Check out the full video below, the Catwoman segment begins at the 1-minute 55-second mark.

Though the Fifty Shades franchise is a very polarizing one, Johnson has done quite a bit of impressive work outside of that trilogy such as in A Bigger Splash and this weekend’s Bad Times at the El Royale. Even if you’re not a fan of some of her work, Johnson has proved that she has plenty of acting range and given that the Catwoman role hasn’t been filled yet it in the DC Extended Universe, she’d make a very interesting choice.
