Chadwick Boseman landed the role of a lifetime when he was cast as Marvel’s T’Challa/Black Panther. T’Challa is a prominent figure in the Marvel comics canon, and after making his debut in Captain America: Civil War, will become a significant puzzle piece in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The addition of Black Panther is a great step toward having diversity in the movies considering he is the African King of Wakanda.
For some time time, Chadwick Boseman could only dream of getting to play Black Panther, but his hopes came to fruition when Marvel could see he was the right man to portray T’Challa. However, Marvel weren’t the only ones that recognized Chadwick Boseman was the perfect pick to play the character. Chadwick Boseman was a popular candidate among fans, and a security guard on the set of Gods of Egypt told Boseman he believed that he would be cast in the role.
“As a matter of fact, some of the fanboys and fangirls, they somehow have, some of them have some prophetic powers I guess. There’s this one guy in Australia, I was filming in Australia, and I was on set, and this guy was doing security, his name is Charles Carter. This was Gods of Egypt. This was probably a year before, a year before. So he has them put his first issue of Black Panther, an original 1977 issue, the comic itself, the first Black Panther comic book, in my trailer and writes a note, and says “I believe you’re going to be Black Panther”, like just out of nowhere.”

Pretty neat story, eh? That security guard must have been delighted to learn his prediction came true and Chadwick Boseman was officially set to be the King of Wakanda.
Chadwick Boseman will make his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War due out May 6th, then he will go on to play the character in his own solo film directed by Ryan Coogler.
