After two fantastic seasons as Daredevil, Charlie Cox is getting ready to team up with the rest of The Defenders. Netflix and Marvel’s crossover series is set to air next year, wrapping up the early adventures of the Hell’s Kitchen heroes. After that, they’ll be starting Phase Two of their Netflix series, and it sounds like we’ll see a very different Daredevil by then.
Charlie Cox and the rest of the Daredevil cast were speaking at Wizard World Comic Con over the weekend. While promoting that series, Cox briefly touched on his next appearance. He’s already said that he brings together and leads this team of heroes. It sounds like that experience is going to change Matt Murdock going forward:
“He can’t do all this alone. And that’s to say maybe some teamwork – He’s actually going to relinquish [some responsibility]. So whatever lessons he learns in The Defenders will then play into I think season three.”
That’s pretty good news, given how the last season of Daredevil left off. Matt had pushed away all those who were close to him. He was so hell bent on his vigilante mission he let his best friend walk out on him. With this change in character, hopefully, he’ll start putting his life back together in Season 3.
The other good news from this is potential crossovers. While the first two seasons of Daredevil didn’t feature any other Defenders, Season 3 might. If Matt is more willing to ask for help, why not call Luke Cage? The Defenders should be the start of more crossovers between each show.
The Defenders is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2017. There’s no word yet on when to expect Daredevil Season 3.
