Daredevil: Born Again has been the white whale for Marvel fans on Disney Plus. The series has been dangled over the faces of fans for years. Right as it was close to landing a release date, the rug was pulled out from beneath everyone as it was revealed the series would be undergoind a creative overhaul, delaying it indefinitely.
Luckily, it seems the years of waiting are finally set to play off. When speaking about the Disney Plus series at their recent D23 expo, Marvel revealed that the show will be making its way to streaming in March of next year. This may seem like a long wait, but any concrete plan is more than fans have had in a long, long time.
The Daredevil: Born Again Creative Overhaul Explained
Daredevil: Born Again faced significant changes during its development. In September 2023, Marvel severed ties with the show’s initial writing and directing team, including head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, following concerns that its direction was not aligned with the studio’s vision. Reports at the time revealed that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil didn’t appear in his superhero attire until the fourth episode, a creative decision that contributed to Marvel’s decision to overhaul the series.
Despite these setbacks, Marvel is moving forward with Daredevil: Born Again while retaining some of the scenes and episodes produced under the previous team. Chris Ord and Matt Corman will remain attached to the project as executive producers, albeit in different roles. Additionally, Marvel is rethinking its television production strategy, moving away from the head-writer model and instead hiring showrunners to maintain a consistent creative vision throughout the process.
