Charlize Theron has shared new images of herself as Clea alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange for the mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
After facing off against Elizaebeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and harnessing the power of the Darkhold, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange starts to feel the dire consequences of his actions in the final moments of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As the film ends, Strange keels over in pain and suddenly grows a third eye, like the one seen on his twisted alternate self, Sinister Strange. Then, after the credits have started to roll, Strange is seen walking the streets of New York before he is stopped by a voice calling out to him – the voice of Charlize Theron’s Clea.
In the comics, Clea is a disciple of Doctor Strange who later becomes his wife. She also has ties to Dormammu’s Dark Dimension. In the mid-credits scene of Multiverse of Madness, Charlize Theron’s version of the character warns Strange he has caused an incursion – a collision between two universes – and tells him he is going to help her fix it. The moment sets up a future alliance between the two and, now that Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer has married another man and left Strange for good, could set up a new love story for Doctor Strange in the MCU.
Taking to Instagram, Charlize Theron shared two behind-the-scenes images of herself as Clea in the latest Marvel Studios movie. The first shows her hair and make-up as the sorceress, while the second shows her in full costume on set, beside Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Check out the new images below:
It is not yet known when Charlize Theron will next be seen as Clea in the MCU, but it looks likely she will be accompanying Doctor Strange in his next appearance. The mission she presents to Strange, of fixing an incursion, also suggests that Clea will be involved with more adventures into the multiverse.
