Disney and Pixar have released the first teaser trailer for Lightyear, featuring Chris Evans as the voice of Buzz.
During Disney Investor Day last December, Pixar announced Lightyear, a film centered on the real Buzz Lightyear that the iconic toy from the Toy Story films is based on. Chris Evans takes over the role of the beloved Space Ranger from Tim Allen, who famously voiced the toy version in all four Toy Story movies.
Now, the first teaser trailer for Lightyear has dropped, giving fans a glimpse at what to expect from this new origin story. As what many fans have come to expect, the animation from Pixar is astounding. The leap in technological advances made since the original Toy Story in 1995 to now is astronomical, and above all, the film looks like a blast. Admittedly, it is a bit peculiar to see Buzz as a human rather than a child’s plaything, but it looks to be an exciting way to further explore the story behind the real Space Ranger. Also, it is fun to hear Chris Evans’ voice, once again teasing an iconic catchphrase without actually completing it.

With these subtle nods to the iconography that the character of Buzz Lightyear brings as well as the small hint of Chris Evans’ voice performance, this new film looks to be an intriguing new entry in Pixar’s filmography. Here’s hoping we also get a further understanding of some of the lore, particularly Buzz’s archenemy Evil Emperor Zurg sometime in the future.
Lightyear blasts off into theaters on June 17, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Chris Evans’ upcoming film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
