Director Taika Waititi commented on the possibility of seeing Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder keep his Avengers: Endgame weight in Thor: Love and Thunder.
When Avengers: Endgame jumped ahead into the future after our heroes learned Thanos left them with no way reversing his decimation, fans learned Chris Hemsworth’s Thor had spent the last five years drinking and isolating himself from the world. As a result, Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder gained a significant amount of weight and consequently earned the official nickname “Bro Thor.”
With Chris Hemsworth set to reprise his role in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, some fans have been wondering if the God of Thunder will have regained his superhero physique by the time the next chapter of his solo adventures begins. During an interview with Yahoo!, Taika Waititi revealed that the topic of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor weighs is currently an ongoing discussion as the filmmakers are still trying to decide on how much time has passed between Avengers: Endgame and Love and Thunder:
“This is an ongoing debate that we’re still having at Marvel. Cause we’re trying to figure out how long — how many months or years — this is after Endgame, at what point does this take place? I think we always want to keep changing it up with Thor. He’s so interesting when he’s changing all the time.”
