Set photos from Mad Max spinoff Furiosa have revealed Marvel’s Thor star Chris Hemsworth looking unrecognisable in a prosthetic nose and big red beard.
Furiosa will follow Mad Max: Fury Road‘s heroine in her life prior to the events of that movie. Imperator Furiosa, portrayed by Charlize Theron in Fury Road, will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy in the prequel, with Chris Hemsworth appearing in an as-yet unconfirmed role.
Many fan theories are suggesting Chris Hemsworth will appear as a younger version of Mad Max: Fury Road antagonist Immortan Joe. The set photos give little away, but do reveal Hemsworth is bringing his family along for the ride.
Chris Hemsworth & Co. Hit The Road
New set photos, shared by the Daily Mail, reveal Chris Hemsworth getting ready to shoot scenes for Furiosa, sporting flowing red hair and a beard to match, along with a false nose and dyed red eyebrows.
While the Thor star’s costume was covered by a long coat, making it difficult to glean any hint of who he might be playing and whether he is the young Immortan Joe, he was seen with some recognisable co-stars. The actor’s father, Craig Hemsworth, was seen on set, along with Chris Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky and their three children.

Angus Sampson, who appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road as the Organic Mechanic was also spotted on the set, along with Ian Roberts, who will make his first appearance in the franchise in Furiosa.
While Chris Hemsworth’s costume remained hidden in most of the images, there were plenty of actors and extras seen donning leather biker gear, including Hemsworth’s father.
Here is the synopsis for Furiosa:
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
Furiosa is currently set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming Mad Max prequel, Furiosa, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
