Director Christopher McQuarrie recently commented on how his proposed Superman film would have connected to the Green Lantern film.

During production on Mission: Impossible – Fallout, director Christopher McQuarrie and star Henry Cavill developed an idea for a Superman sequel that Warner Bros. ultimately passed on. However, the Superman sequel was not the only DC project Christopher McQuarrie nearly lent a hand in crafting, as the filmmaker was reportedly almost involved in the Green Lantern film at one point.

Of course, neither Christopher McQuarrie’s Superman or Green Lantern concepts were developed by the studio, but the filmmaker recently took to his official Twitter account to shed light on how both projects would have been connected. On the reason why his Superman and Green Lantern ideas were rejected, Christopher McQuarrie also noted the studios did not care for his original ideas and preferred to “fix their broken ones.”

While Warner Bros. is reportedly setting the Superman character aside for the time being, the studio is currently developing a Green Lantern Corps film with Geoff Johns on board as a writer and producer. Details on Green Lantern Corps are currently under wraps, though the project will draw inspiration from Geoff Johns’ work on the New 52 Green Lantern comics with both Hal Jordan and John Stewart set to appear in the film.

Green Lantern Corps is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Black Adam, Shazam 2, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.
