Christopher Reeve suits up as Kingdom Come Superman in this awesome new image that features the actor trading in his original suit from Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman movie.
Plenty of actors have taken on the role of Superman in live-action, from George Reeves to Dean Cain to Tom Welling, and even all the way up to Tyler Hoechlin, none have quite left their mark like Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve is unquestionably one of the most popular actors to have played Superman on the big screen and is still considered to be the definitive live-action portrayal of the Man of Steel. After his fourth appearance as the Last Son of Krypton, Christopher Reeve retired from the role with 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
But thanks to a new image, fans can get an idea for what an older Christopher Reeve could have looked like featured as Kingdom Come Superman. The image was even reposted by Legendary artist Alex Ross. You can check it out below.
So what do you think? Can you imagine what it would have been like to have Christopher Reeve as Kingdom Come Superman? Is Christopher Reeve your favorite Superman? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Written by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, Kingdom Come was a four-issue series published under DC’s Elseworlds imprint. Set in the year 2020, Kingdom Come follows an older Man of Steel as he attempts to rein in a new generation of reckless vigilantes and inspire them to adopt the ideals of past superheroes.
While we never got to see Christopher Reeve play Kingdom Come Superman, Brandon Routh will be playing a Kingdom Come version of Superman in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event on The CW.
Crisis on Infinite Earths has been teased since the very first episode of Grant Gustin’s The Flash, where a newspaper headline from the year 2024 revealed the Barry Allen’s fate was to disappear during a “crisis.” However, the fifth season finale of The Flash accelerated this when the original newspaper headline changed the date of the event from 2024 to 2019. To add to this, the seventh season finale of Arrow set up Oliver Queen’s role in the next crossover by having him join the Monitor on a mission to warn other worlds of the crisis, as part of the arrangement Oliver made in order to save the lives of both The Flash and Supergirl.
Crisis On Infinite Earths will span two quarters and consist of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman. The Arrowverse crossover will launch with three episodes in December before concluding with two additional episodes in January.
