Entertainment Weekly reports Arrow alums Colin Donnell and Josh Segara will return for guest appearances in the final season of the Stephen Amell series.
The eighth season of Arrow is currently in production and some familiar faces will return the final year of the Stephen Amell series, including Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn and Josh Segara as season 5 villain Chase/Prometheus. In the first season, Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn was the best friend of Oliver Queen who grew distant from the billionaire after learning about his vigilante exploits, though they ultimately making amends upon Merlyn’s death. On the other hand, Josh Segara’s Adrian Chase was a season-long villain who sought revenge on Green Arrow for the death of his father and ultimately committed suicide by detonating multiple explosions on the island of Lian Yu in hopes of killing Oliver and his allies.
While there are a number of ways comic book characters can return in spite of meeting their demise, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz noted Josh Segara’s Adrian Chase will come back in an unexpected way:
“Adrian Chase comes back in a different way than expected. We’re really excited about that because obviously he’s one of our favorite villains.”
Meanwhile, executive producer Marc Guggenheim noted Colin Donnell’s Merlyn is “not coming back as the Tommy we know.”
