Two of the best character actors working today!

New images from The Batman give us our best look yet at Colin Farrell and Paul Dano.

One of the most exciting elements of Matt Reeves’ The Batman is the new take on certain members of the Caped Crusader’s Rogues Gallery. Two of them include Edward Nashton/The Riddler (Paul Dano) and Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Colin Farrell). The film looks to explore a younger Batman (Robert Pattinson) as he navigates through the criminal underworld of Gotham, in an attempt to expose the corrupt inner-workings of the city.

Matt Reeves looks to be bringing his own unique take on these iconic villains, right down to the unrecognizable transformation of Colin Farrell as The Penguin and the striking design of Paul Dano as The Riddler, the latter giving a particular reflection of the imagery associated with the Zodiac killer. In these new images, we get our best look yet at the two villains, giving us a better glimpse at some of the intricate details of these two actors’ transformations:

Paul Dano’s costume as The Riddler is quite unsettling to say the least. The way in which he covers his face and only his glasses and piercing eyes appear through the navy green mask, the trench coat, and the eerie question mark is quite striking. And do we even need to say anything about Colin Farrell’s transformation that hasn’t been said enough? If nothing else, at least The Batman is bringing back these beloved characters to the big screen for the first time in over 20 years.

Paul Dano and Colin Farrell will be seen together along with Robert Pattinson in March. Here is the synopsis for The Batman:

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film, Colin Farrell’s Penguin and Paul Dano’s Riddler, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
