Colin Farrell recently opened up about working with The Batman director Matt Reeves and the script for the movie.

While fans are eager to see what Matt Reeves’ The Batman will look like, it seems like the style of one of the key villains is still being mapped out. Colin Farrell’s Penguin will go up against Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the new film and the star explained that he’s currently finishing up on designing the villain alongside director Matt Reeves. However Colin Farrell also revealed new details about what to expect from Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin’s The Batman script.

During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Colin Farrell teased fans with what to expect from The Batman script, calling the film “beautiful” and “dark.” The Batman star Colin Farrell also explained that director Matt Reeves has plenty of love for the story he’s telling. It’ll be interesting to see how Matt Reeves’ The Batman balances between darkness and beauty in the new version of Gotham City. “I’m in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director, who wrote the script, and wrote a really beautiful, dark, moving script, really gorgeous. It’s all very hush hush, but it’s a really beautiful script that he wrote and he has a real love for it, Matt. So, we’re in the process of finishing designing the aesthetic of the character.”

Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Peter Sarsgaard.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
