A production start date for Colin Farrell’s upcoming The Batman spinoff series The Penguin was reportedly revealed.

Following the release of The Batman, Matt Reeves looks to further expand the franchise with not just a theatrical sequel in development, but numerous television spinoff series set to stream exclusively on HBO Max. One of those series will be The Penguin, which will star Colin Farrell in the titular role, as it explores his criminal rise in Gotham City.

Now, it looks like we have a start date for The Penguin. According to a production listing, the highly-anticipated new spinoff series from The Batman will begin production starting June 15, 2022 in Los Angeles, CA. With that in mind, it is possible that audiences eager to return to Matt Reeves’ Gotham City will have the chance to do so sooner than expected thanks to this upcoming spinoff series.

Lauren LeFranc (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is overseeing The Penguin as its writer and showrunner. Matt Reeves and Colin Farrell are on board as producers alongside Dylan Clark, who also worked on The Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.

The film is now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding The Batman’s on-screen future, as well as Colin Farrell’s upcoming series The Penguin, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
