The Quantum Realm is a strange place...

Corey Stoll Ant-Man Yellowjacket

Corey Stoll responded to rumors of his return as Yellowjacket in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

One of the most-anticipated new films in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third film centered on one of Marvel’s most unique heroes. The upcoming film is expected to expand the MCU in more ways than one, including the involvement of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who was first teased in the season finale of Loki. However, one of the more interesting rumors regarding the upcoming film is the possible return of Corey Stoll as Darren Cross AKA Yellowjacket.

Corey Stoll portrayed Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man film, serving as the primary antagonist to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang. When we last saw him, he was facing off against the titular hero in young Cassie Lang’s bedroom. Scott shrinks to subatomic size to penetrate Yellowjacket’s suit, causing him to shrink uncontrollably presumably to his demise.

Given the possibility of his return, Corey Stoll was asked by Inverse about whether or not he would be back in the MCU as Yellowjacket anytime soon. While promoting The Many Saints of Newark, the actor played coy.

“I just can’t answer, sorry. There’s just no percentage of me answering any of that.”

The Quantum Realm has been shown to be an instrumental element of the MCU, having been utilized for much of the action in Avengers: Endgame. Given the title of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we are certainly going to explore it further, and that leaves the possibility of seeing Corey Stoll as Yellowjacket again. In the meantime, we have nothing but speculation and fan theories until we get official confirmation.

Ant-Man and the Wasp were last seen in Avengers: Endgame. Here is the official plot synopsis for the Marvel Studios film:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming on Disney Plus, while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
