The coronavirus has hit the film industry once again as Sonic the Hedgehog‘s China release has been postponed due to the outbreak.
Sonic the Hedgehog has shocked audiences all around the world for not only being an otherwise decent video game movie, but also with the sheer amount of money that it is making. The film had the biggest weekend opening of any video game movie and could very well become the highest-grossing one as well. Unfortunately, the Sonic the Hedgehog has run into a fairly big obstacle in China in the shape of the coronavirus.
The coronavirus outbreak is one that people are taking seriously. Earlier this month it was announced that the China premiere of No Time to Die had been canceled due the coronavirus. Earlier today, it was discovered that the production for the latest Mission: Impossible film had been halted in Italy due to concerns over the coronavirus. Now, the coronavirus has caused the China premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog to be postponed indefinitely. Since the coronavirus epidemic started earlier this year, theaters across China have been closed due to the outbreak and it is unknown when they will reopen.
