The renewals that we have all been waiting for have finally arrived as The CW has announced that The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow have all been renewed for new seasons.
With strong numbers that all three of these shows have been getting, it was only a matter of time till we got them all renewed. The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz said this in a statement about all the renewals for the network.
“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas. As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”
The renewal follows the announcement for the season finale dates as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be wrapping up its first season on May 19 with The Flash concluding Season 2 on May 24 while Arrow ends its 4th season on May 25. In addition, while not part of the DCTV line-up per say, the Vertigo series iZombie has also been renewed for a third season and will end season two on Tuesday, April 12. With the case of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, it wasn’t specified whether the second season will have more or less episodes as the first season has 16 episodes.
The Flash (which returns on March 22) airs on Tuesday nights, Arrow (which returns on March 23) airs on Wednesday nights and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (which returns on March 31) airs on Thursday nights, all at 8/7c on The CW.
