Logan star Dafne Keen recently confirmed the reports that Fox was developing a spin-off film centered on her character X-23.
The Fox era of the X-Men franchise came to an end with The New Mutants finally arriving in theaters a few months back. Now, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios control the X-Men characters and their cinematic direction following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. A major high point of the X-Men franchise under Fox came near the end of its run with Logan. At the end of that film, audiences said goodbye to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but the door was left open for future stories with Dafne Keen’s X-23.
Back in 2017, it was reported that Fox was moving forward with a Logan spin-off film after the success of the first Wonder Woman film. Years later, Dafne Keen has confirmed in an interview with Elle that an X-23 film was indeed in the works at one point over at 20th Century Fox:
“I got told by some people at Fox that there might be another one, but this was ages ago when we were filming, and they haven’t contacted me ever again.”
